アメリカの有力紙、ニューヨーク・タイムズが「52 Places to Go in 2025（2025年に行くべき52か所）」を発表し、38番目に大阪が選ばれました。選出理由に、大阪は「日本で最も先進的な都市」とした上で、私たち虹色ダイバーシティが運営するプライドセンター大阪が紹介されました。

Enjoy a sprawling and progressive city’s newfound green space
Sitting on grass was not a common activity in Osaka, a large city known more for its food and shopping scenes than for its greenery. But the game-changing project Grand Green Osaka is transforming a rail freight yard into a mixed-use lifestyle hub that will open in stages and include a vast green space, as well as Japan’s first Waldorf Astoria hotel, scheduled to open later this year. Osaka got its first Four Seasons hotel last year and will host the World Expo from April to October, when pavilions from 161 countries are expected to draw more than 20 million visitors. Arguably Japan’s most progressive city, Osaka opened its first Pride Center in 2022 and in October hosted the record-breaking International LGBTQ+ Travel Association convention, recording the largest international turnout in the organization’s history. Many see these developments as a bellwether for marriage equality in Japan, the only Group of 7 country where same-sex unions are still illegal.— Adam H. Graham
